Sketching & Drawing
My work owes alot to observational sketching. For me it is a way of keeping in practice but also of bearing witness to things around me in a way which strives for immediacy and directness.
I think a difference can be made (or drawn) between sketching and drawing. Drawing can dispense with the need to capture the immediacy or essense of a scene and can be more refined and mediated - as in illustration work, or working from photographs.
